Breezes Blowing

There's never a bad time to sing about Autumn and learn some Spanish but there are particularly good times, and one of those is now.

✪ We begin with a Clap It Back song in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month. We use the power of rhythm and song to teach you the common Spanish phrase for "I want to eat a snack in a fort with you." You will never be hungry and lonely in a fort in a Spanish speaking country again. De nada.

✪ Next up, we get in the Fall spirit with an Echo Song titled Sleepy Trees that will teach you about why trees lose their leaves and polish up your pitch matching capabilities.

✪ Lasterly I share a new song called Play in a Band. It is dedicated to all the Noodlinos big or small who liked an outfit enough to wear it multiple days in a row. You know who you are.

We hope you enjoy our music and games for pre-k, kindergarten and all little kids! It's like a music lesson that happens when you least expect it.

No Birds To Describe You

We are celebrating the release of Dan's new book We Share This School by getting together to sing and rhyme and clap along with a new episode of Noodle Loaf!

Our Clap It Back this week unusually unusual, even by our standards here at Noodle Loaf. Practice your rhythmic awareness while learning such important non-facts such as "Turnip is short for Turtle Nipple" and "Rutabaga is short for Ruth Bader's Bagel." This rhythm game also explores 4/4 and 3/4 time somehow. ✪

A special Tiny Song appearance by Kinetic Lawns with a live version of their song "No Birds to Describe You" from their album "1 Love Song." ✪

The echo song, We All Belong, was inspired by Dan's new book series about communities. This song celebrates our roles within our communities and helps develop a child's sense of pitch and rhythm. ✪

We finish the episode with a Finish The Pattern game all about breakfast. It goes by fast so try to keep up as we mix up breakfasts and switch up the fixins. ✪

We hope you enjoy our music and games for preschoolers, kindergarteners and early elementary age kids!  It's like a music lesson that happens once a year but stays with you for a lifetime.

Moon Dust

Dinosaur songs, truck stories and even an ode to napkins. Something for everyone! (Especially people that like music and games)

This Clap It Back manages to squeeze in tributes to a few of the many celebrations happening this month like International Drum Month, Jewish American Heritage Month, National Bike Month and American Cheese Month. What a great way to gain a strong sense of rhythm! ✪

We're also celebrating the release of Echo Songs, Vol. 2, a new collection of echo songs from the podcast. Here is a fan favorite song, I Am a Lonely T Rex, about friendly but lonely T Rex. Why won't anyone play with him? Is it because he'll eat them? Probably. ✪

A Tiny Song twofer! One is by me about napkins. The other is by Noodlinos Sydney and Andi and it is about Fun in the Tub. ✪

We end with a You Make The Story game all about trucks, and a little about geese. Good luck! ✪

We hope you enjoy our music and games for preschoolers, kindergarteners and early elementary age kids! It's like a music lesson for kids that both is and ins't about geese.

Sticky Sneaker Baby Bump

Lots to sing and dance about today like salty soups, sticky sneaks and bananas. Flying bananas that is. So warm up your larynxes and press play on another episode of play based music education for humans.

The kids wrote most of this Clap It Back rhythm game. That means the lyrics are especially odd but the rhythms are just as dynamite as ever. Rosin up your clapping hands and play along. ✪

The people have spoken and they have said that they want more Tiny Songs from Loafy Noodles. So he's back with his new hit Salty Soup Sally about Sally who always makes her soups super salty. Minestrone anyone? ✪

Today's Echo Song is dedicated to grown ups who want kids to do what they tell them to do. The song is called Do Not Ask Me Why, as in do not ask me why I write such ridiculous songs. ✪

It's a Dance & Freeze round of our Time to Move segment. Isolate one or more limbs, make em shimmy, and then freeze! That's the game. The game is fun. You like fun. Enjoy. ✪

We hope you enjoy our music and games for preschoolers, kindergarteners and early elementary age kids! It's like a music lesson for kids that have no relation to college credits.

From The Tap

Go on, open up the packet. What's inside? 10 minutes of interactive music education games for children?? Fantastic! Here are the games on today's show:

First up a Clap It Back game called "What's On The Menu" I say things that are on the menu. You clap back the rhythm of the words. It's fun, easy and helps develop a sense of rhythm. If the foods were actually available then it would be a very promising new restaurant concept. ✪

Before today's echo songs you'll hear a brief description of how some songs are written which will help demystify how an instant classic like Funky Little Porcupine comes to be. It's not rocket scientist. It's much fancier. ✪

We end with a Call and Response written by the eternal Ella Jenkins. The song is called Dulce Dulce and it is a fun music game that will help your child learn rhythm, melody and the Spanish word "Dulce." Ella Jenkins was not Hispanic but hopefully this Spanish word song will inspire some Hispanic Heritage Month singing and playing even as the official celebration month draws to an end. ✪

We hope you enjoy our music and games for preschoolers, kindergarteners and early elementary age kids! It's like a music lesson for kids you can do on the way to your swimming lesson.

Duck Truck Goose - Encore

Sorry kids, the song about the history of Kraftwerk didn't make the final edit but don't fret, there is a clapping game about robots. There is also a Western folk song and opportunities to make use of your ears and hands so make sure to have those nearby before hitting play.

We begin with a song game called Clap It Back about robots. But is it a song about robots? Or an homage to Phil Collins? Can it be both? This is a great way to develop Rhythmic Awareness and 80s pop icon awareness. ✪

Kids love classic Western cinema so here is an old Western folk song that also happens to be an Echo Song. So hop up in the saddle and join us on the trail. ✪

The word "Aural" is confusing when heard aurally. That is ironic. There is nothing we can do about that but what we can do is develop Aural Awareness via a game called Name That Sound. We'll play a sound, you try to name it. ✪

If you like Rhythmic Improvisation and Body Percussion then you will love Jam Along. Stomp, clap, pat and snap your funkiest groove along to our funkiest groove. ✪

We hope you enjoy our music and games for preschoolers, kindergarteners and early elementary age kids! It's like a music lesson for kids you can pack in your picnic basket.

Kangaroo Water Park

If you like smoothies then you'll love this new episode of Noodle Loaf. It's got mangoes (rhythm games), bananas (singing) and freshly squeezed orange juice (mad-lib style story games). Press play and take a gulp!

Our Clap It Back game gives you and your family a chance to learn rhythmic phrases. Syllables, cadence, rhythm, tempo, beat...so many skills to glean from this game. It also incorporates a technique used in music classrooms and pedagogies like the Suzuki method. Things get tricky as the game goes on, so hold on to your smoothies! ✪

This Echo Song doesn't have a lot of words. Some songs don't need a lot of words to do what they need to do. Other songs (like Hurricane by Bob Dylan) need a ton of words. This is not that. The name of this song is "Sister Oh Sister" and it is meant to evoke feelings about the people in your life, after all. ✪

We recently found a half filled book of Mad-Libs on a neighbors' stoop. We had a lot of fun with it and it was exciting to see how different another families brand of hijinks felt in comparison to our own. This game is similar. It is called You Make The Story and your job is to add your own words to help tell the story. In this case you are opening up a pizzeria. Good luck with your new pizzeria endeavor! ✪

We hope you enjoy our music and games for preschoolers, kindergarteners and early elementary age kids! It's like a music lesson for kids you can slurp up like a smoothie but without the brain freeze.

Special Drums Special Rhythms

Fun. Fun Music. Fun Music For Kids. Fun Music For Kids And Their Grown Growns. Fun Music For Kids And Their Grown Growns That Involves Saying The Names of Birds Wrong. i.e. Curdnal.

Pretty Birdies - Echo Song - A repeat after me song about different birds! But we're not just singing bird names over here, we are singing them incorrectly because that's something we like to do. I don't know if your kids will learn about birds by singing along but there's a chance they'll develop their senses of pitch and rhythm.

Learn About Tablas with Sufyan - Noodlino Sufyan is a 7 year old from Brooklyn, NY who has been studying how to play the tabla. He tells us a little about the instrument and demonstrates a couple bols (rhythmic sequences) that he has learned. He is cool. Tablas are cool. You are cool.

Clap It Back - In this rhythm game about drums of the world, we clap back the rhythms of phrases describing various world drums over Sufyan's tablatastic grooves. It's a bit of music appreciation mixed with some drumming fundamentals.

KaraYOUke - If your child has been waiting patiently for someone to ask them to write a song about donkey teeth, then they need wait no more! This game asks you and your children to write your owns based on prompts you hear. We provide the music and the prompts, your family writes the songs. It's a songwriting lesson and a mad-lib but more fun than either one by itself.

We hope you enjoy our music and games for preschoolers, kindergarteners and early elementary age kids! It's like a music lesson but it's free and you don't have to drive to it.

Pedal On!

We continue celebrating Black History Month on our kids podcast by channeling the great tradition of Civil Rights songs, with a song about James Baldwin for kids and a song about the Black sports hero Major Taylor. Hooray for fun music for kids about inspiring Black figures! Both of these songs appear on our new Black History EP called "Oh Let Us Sing!" which features five children’s songs about five inspiring historical Black figures.

Playground Game - The episode begins with the classic playground sing along song for kids, Pizza Pizza Daddy-O. We do our own spin on this creative movement game for our kids podcast but you're encouraged to search online for the old school version. ✪

Echo Song - Then we help children develop pitch and singing confidence with our original echo song, one of a few of our Black History songs for kids, James Baldwin Used His Words. It's a Black History song for preschoolers and up. ✪

Clap It Back - We also get into a music activity for kids about the traditional African-American food, cornbread, during our rhythm, game segment. This game promotes rhythmic awareness and provides a recipe you can cook with your children too! You can find the skillet cornbread recipe that inspired the music game here: Better than Jiffy

Echo Song - Our final echo song, Pedal On!, is about the great Black sports hero Major Taylor who was not only a cycling champion but is also remembered as a civil rights hero. ✪

We hope you enjoy our music and games for preschoolers, kindergarteners and early elementary age kids!

Going With The Flow

A bit of a theme going on in this one.  Who improvises?  Who does not?  What does improvise mean? What does amprovise mean?  As far as I know, it does not mean anything. Nonetheless this episode is fun and educational and fun and introduces the concept of improvisation to children.

This Clap It Back rhythm game is two lessons in one and a whole lot of fun. Children will gain rhythmic awareness and learn the sections of the orchestra, namely woodwinds, percussion, brass and strings. Plus we rhyme "piccolos" with "cover holes." ✪

This episode’s Echo Song called Improvise has special guest appearances by podcasters Alex Goldman of Reply All, Mick Sullivan of the Past and the Curious, Pamela Rogers of Buttons and Figs and Nosaj from the rap group New Kingdom. The song teaches the definition of "Improvising" in the musical sense and in the sense of going with the flow when life throws you curveballs. It's a song about resilience and having a good attitude for kids and the grown ups who love them even when they spill all of the snacks all of the time. ✪

Story Song - My Mother is a Baby - This is a song tale about a mother who is a baby, not a metaphorical baby, but an actual baby. It's a silly song for kids that's a little bit Elvis, a little bit Shel Silverstein and a whole lotta fun. ✪

You get to play this mad libs for kids in real time. I like to play this on long car rides where each person in the car takes turning filling in the blank. This You Make The Story is about cooking poorly. ✪

Funky Shades

Sure, I could use this space here to explain photosynthesis but wouldn't you rather learn about it via clapping? I would. And so would your child. Which is why this episode has a song explaining photosynthesis. And plenty of other educational music for kids too!

Time To Move - Loud is Big, Soft is Small - We kick things off with a creative movement song about musical dynamics. Big and small. Loud and Soft. Silly and fun! ✪

Clap It Back - Leaves - A song about photosynthesis! A rhythm game about life science! A podcast for kids that has it all! ✪

Echo Song - That Spells Friend - A repeat after me song about friendship that not only helps kids identify what a friend is but helps them spell it too. It's a social emotional learning (SEL) song that's both tasty and healthy. ✪

We hope you enjoy our music and games for preschoolers, kindergarteners and early elementary age kids! It's like a music lesson for your ride to school.

Peck of Pumpkin Poodle

A little extra noodle in our loaf this go round to keep your family singing, rhyming, jamming and goofin’.

Clap it Back - We begin with a rhythm song for kids called Weird Picnic. This clapping game develops rhythmic awareness in children and has some fun with the very strange eating scenarios families have been experiencing recently. ✪

Rhyme Time - This rhyming game will grow a phonological wunderkind right in your home. It’s a children’s music activity that parents love too. ✪

Echo Song - Summer Is Hot - This kids song about summer celebrates sun with singing. Repeat after me styler songs are a great way to help kids learn musical pitch, rhythm and singing confidence. ✪

Kids Talking About Stuff - Kids have a candid discussion about skin color. Can it be it was all so simple then? ✪

Finish The Pattern - This music game develops pattern recognition and promotes the art of making music with your mouth be it for beatboxing or voice foley ✪

Jam Along - We end the show with a jam session. Break out your improvisational drumming chops and play along with this kid-friendly funky groove. ✪

SPECIAL GUESTS! Ed Droste from Grizzly Bear moderates a gam of Instrument or Animal! Piera Gelardi, co-founder of Refinery29 makes her music debut in a song about pajamas!

You shared photos of forts with us.  We wrote a rhythm game about fortographs.  Balls in your court Noodlinos!

Lots of fun on this show featuring contributions from special guests Ed Droste from Grizzly Bear and Piera Gelardi:

The kids went through a major fort phase during which we coined the term “fortograph.” You’re welcome English language. This Clap It Back rhythm game is all about forts, fortographs and developing a strong sense of rhythm ✪

Friend of the show (and family) Piera Gelardi wrote this All Day Pajamas song when her daughter was just a baby. She was envious of her child’s ability to wear pajamas all day without the judging stares of passersby. Piera sings lead on this Echo Song so Dan could stay home in his pajamas all day. ✪

Jokes (lolz) ✪

You know Ed Droste from the indie rock mega star band Grizzly Bear, but did you know that Ed is really good at knowing the differences between instruments and animals? That is why he is the special guest on this edition of Instrument or Animal, a trivia and music appreciation game where we say a word and you have to guess which category it falls under. ✪

I Run on Grapes

I definitely prefer seedless grapes, yet I understand on an intellectual level that seeds are needed to grow more grapes.  The whole situation is unclear to me. What I do know is that the grapes that I eat power the bike that I ride, and that is what is important here.  The Noodle Loaf team takes a stab at singing those feelings in a trap song format on today's show.  How'd we do?  Also Popcatépetl.

We begin with a robot themed creative movement dancing game called Time to Move. You become a robot with two settings: 1. When you hear music you do a robot dance. 2. When the music stops you turn your body into the thing that I say i.e. honey ✪

Here at Noodle Loaf HQ we love riding our bikes. It’s an earth friendly way to get around, it’s good for our bodies and it’s super fun! This is an Echo Song song about riding bikes called I Got a Bicycle that will develop pitch matching, rhythm and rapping ✪

This edition of Clap It Back is about a volcano we used to live near in México called Popcatépetl. The name of the volcano is fun to say and even more fun to clap. This game develops beat awareness and listening skills. You gonna love it. ✪
